Infantry

To be an Infantry officer is to be at the core of the Army’s fighting force. Lieutenants are leaders in the main land combat force of the Army, serving as platoon leaders and eventually as company commanders. Leaders ensure that troops work together for a common goal and share in their challenges and victories.

Whether in times of peace or combat, an Infantry lieutenant is self-disciplined, confident and intelligent. Infantry officers are expected to make quick decisions, take initiative and adjust  to constantly changing environments.

Most people picture Infantry when they think of the Army. It’s no surprise, considering this branch dates back to 1775, when a resolution of the Continental Congress created the first Infantry companies.
